RCB announced their new captain in an event
RCB is known to make decisions in an indifferent manner. Therefore, the captain announcement for 2025 came via an event. RCB coach Andy Flower and management, including Mo Bobat and Rajesh Menon, were on stage with Patidar as he was given the red cap and blue blazer.
On Patidar’s appointment as skipper, the franchise’s COO, Rajesh Menon, said-
“It was a critical decision for the RCB. We have had legends. This decision was not easy at all. It was deliberated internally and externally. We feel the decision is good for the franchise – over the next couple of years.”

Patidar was among the three players retained by Royal Challengers Bengaluru before the IPL 2025 mega auctions. He has always been looked at as a senior member on the side and has a proven record in leadership.
Patidar plays for Madhya Pradesh in the domestic circuit. Under his leadership, MP reached the final of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last season, where unfortunately they lost to Mumbai.
