Mumbai Indians have been dealt a major blow ahead of the IPL 2025, as young spin sensation from Afghanistan Allah Ghazanfar has been ruled out due to injury from ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and Indian Premier League.
The 18-year-old, who has been hailed as the next Rashid Khan, sustained a fracture in the L4 vertebra during Afghanistan’s recent tour of Zimbabwe. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed the news in an official statement:
“Afghanistan’s young spin-bowling sensation, AM Ghazanfar, has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy due to a fracture in the L4 vertebra, specifically in the left pars interarticularis. He sustained the injury during Afghanistan’s recently held tour of Zimbabwe and will be sidelined for a minimum of four months. Nangyal Kharoti, who was part of the reserves pool, has been promoted to the main squad for the Champions Trophy. Additionally, Mujeeb Ur Rahman continues to miss ODI action until he has fully recovered.”

Allah Ghazanfar injury puts Mumbai Indians (MI) in a spot of bother as he was one of the premier spin bowlers in the squad, and in the key scheme of things.
