Rajasthan Royals have suffered a significant setback as Sandeep Sharma has been ruled out for the remainder of IPL 2025 due to a fractured finger. The right-arm pacer sustained the injury during RR’s clash against Gujarat Titans, where he hurt his finger while attempting to stop a powerful shot from Shubman Gill. Despite the setback, Sharma showed commendable grit, completing his spell before medical assessments confirmed the severity of his injury.
At the toss before RR’s previous game against Mumbai Indians, acting skipper Riyan Parag confirmed that the team will miss the services of their experienced pacer, as he is officially ruled out of the tournament.
RR Releases Official Statement on Sharma’s Injury
Following the unfortunate development, the Rajasthan Royals issued an official statement regarding Sharma’s exit:
“The franchise extends their best wishes for his full and swift recovery. The team management is currently in the process of finalizing a suitable replacement, with an official announcement expected soon.”
Sharma has been instrumental in RR’s campaign, featuring in 10 matches and claiming 9 wickets at an economy rate of 9.89. His ability to deliver under pressure, especially in the powerplay and death overs, has been crucial for RR this season.

RR’s Search for a Replacement
With RR fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive, they now face the challenge of filling Sharma’s void in the pace attack. The management is expected to bring in a replacement soon, with Ashok Sharma or Yudhvir Singh Charak emerging as potential contenders to step into the XI from their current squad.
However, the team management is yet to decide on a replacement for their star pacer. The scouts will have to look into the Indian domestic circuit for an appropriate replacement for Sandeep. Also, the team management has an option of bringing in an overseas player as the Royals have only 6 overseas players in their squad, and they can go up to 8.
