IPL 2025: MI at the 2025 IPL Mega Auctions

The Mumbai Indians did good homework before the IPL 2025 mega auctions. They had their task cut out by retaining their core members from the last season. Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Tilak Varma, and skipper Hardik Pandya were retained by the franchise ahead of the mega auctions. With big names already retained, MI’s main focus was on building a group around the core members.

Injury concerns for MI ahead of their opening game

The Mumbai Indians are dealing with some injury concerns ahead of their tournament opener. Afghan’s new spin sensation Allah Ghazanfar has been ruled out due to injury along with South Africa’s right-arm pacer Lizaad Williams. The team management has named a replacement for Williams in the form of another South African medium pacer Corbin Bosch, whereas, Afghan’s Mujeeb-ur-Rahman will be replacing his countryman in MI’s squad.

Talking about the Indian pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah, the prolific bowler is all set to miss the first few games for the franchise due to his back injury, which led him to miss the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy 2025. There is no specific date of Bumrah’s return as of now.

England’s left-arm seamer Reece Topley is also nursing a groin injury which could rule him out of the entire tournament. However, there is no official update as of now.
