The Delhi Capitals are still eyeing their first-ever IPL Trophy. DC has been in the IPL since the first season and came close in the 2020 edition by entering the finals however they lost to eventual Mumbai Indians to give them their 5th IPL trophy. Under a new skipper and coach this season, the Delhi-based franchise will be hopeful to turn around the tables this time around and get their hands on the trophy for the very first time.

One of the biggest acquisitions for Delhi Capitals in this year’s mega auction was KL Rahul. The Indian wicket-keeper batter has been around many teams in his IPL career and DC is going to be his 5th franchise. Rahul’s inclusion was more than necessary when DC lost Rishabh Pant to LSG and Shreyas Iyer to PBKS. The Capitals bid strongly for both Pant and Iyer, but couldn’t get hold of any of them due to their high bids.

Axar Patel named skipper for DC
The Delhi Capitals have announced their skipper for the upcoming IPL 2025. Indian all-rounder Axar Patel will be leading the side this time around. The 31-year-old beat the likes of seasoned IPL captains KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis to take the reigns from Rishabh Pant. Axar was the vice-captain of Delhi Capitals in the last season and led the side in the absence of Pant in the last season in a few games.
Talking about their tournament opener, the Delhi Capitals will be playing their opening game of the season at their adopted home venue, i.e., at the VDCA Cricket Stadium, Vizag against Lucknow Super Giants on March 24.
