It’s a rematch of the last year’s final as Delhi Capitals (DC-W) take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB-W) in match no-4 of WPL 2025 season at Vadodara International Cricket Stadium on Monday evening. RCB won the penultimate game last season en route to their maiden WPL trophy, beating DC by 8 wickets in what was a one-sided affair. In fact, it was the first trophy for the Bangalore franchise as their men team is yet to get their hands on the title.
Both teams have made a winning start to the season. But it was Royal Challengers Bangalore who impressed the most and gave enough reasons that they remain the team to beat this season as well. The reigning champions chased down a mammoth target of 201 runs against Gujarat Giants. By doing this, RCB now holds the record of the highest run chase in WPL. Right from the top-order, this team is full of high-profile players.
Delhi Capitals also managed to start their season on a winning note. While bowling first, DC bowled Mumbai Indians out for 164 runs in 19.1 overs with Amelia Kerr and Hayley Matthews taking two wickets each. DC got off a great start during their chase, thanks to Shafali Verma (43 off 18) who came out to bat with only an intent of hitting the ball out of the park. Debutant Niki Prasad (35 off 33) also scored some valuable runs, while Sarah Bryce played a quickfire innings off 21 runs off 10 balls.
But it was Arundhati Reddy who scored the most valuable runs for the team. DC needed two runs off the last ball when she came to bat. The 27-year-old hit a lofted shot to the extra cover and somehow managed to cross the circle, with the batters running two runs to close the chase.
