India and England are all set for the first ODI at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. England has won the toss and opted to bat first on a track that looked quite dry and good for the batters to score big. Talking about the team news, during the IND vs ENG toss time, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma made a shocking revelation that Virat Kohli will be missing the game due to a knee injury that he sustained last night, and replacing him would be ODI debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal.

NO Virat Kohli for the first ODI in Nagpur

This comes as a shocker for Indian fans that Virat Kohli sustained a knee injury last night and won’t be featuring in the first ODI. Here’s what Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said during the toss:

We wanted to bowl first, but it doesn’t matter a lot. Need to be aggressive with the ball at the start and then need to do well later. Nice to get some time off, it’s a fresh start and this is a great chance to do well. It’s very important to get some gametime, try and maximize whatever opportunity we have. Jaiswal and Harshit are making their debuts, unfortunately Virat isn’t playing, he had a knee problem last night.

During the practice session this morning, Kohli’s right knee was seen heavily taped, and this might be the reason why the King wasn’t named in the playing 11 of the first match ofthe IND vs ENG ODI series.

Talking about India’s playing 11 for the first ODI vs England, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Harshit Rana are making their ODI debut and you can check the rest of the playing XI below,
