ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is right around the corner. The top 8 teams are gearing up for the ultimate showdown and the fans’ excitement is reaching new heights already. Every tournament gets into the grove when things spice up in the buildup, and it seems like Australian captain Pat Cummins has set the tone of spicing up things.
Pat Cummins Trolls Virat Kohl in a Champions Trophy Commercial
Austtralia is always a team who is right up there in sledging. The batton of sledging has always been led by the Aussies and this time it’s their captain Pat Cummins who has inititated the sledging journey. The 31-year-old was seen in a promotional video of Champions Trophy wherein he sledged Ben Stokes, Ollie Pope, Virat Kohli and others. Check the video below,
In the commercial Cummins trolled the English all-rounder Ben Stokes saying,
“Oi Ben, I am not stokes about you,”
He then targeted English batter Ollie Pope before turning his focus on the Indian great Virat Kohli. Pat was seen cheekily taking a dig on Kohli by saying,
“Hey Kohli, I have never seen you bat this slowly.”
The video garnered many eyeballs quickly and also paved way for Kohli fans to comment their views.
Pat Cummins still Doubtful for Champions Trophy 2025
As the Australian team prepares for Champions Trophy and gain momentum to register their first win in Champions Trophy since the 2009 edition, the team have recieved a massive jolt over the availaibility of skipper Pat Cummins.
The 2023 World Cup winning captain is nursing an ankle injury which he sustained during the Border Gavaskar Trophy last earlier this year. His availaibility is a subject to fitness, but as of now, it seems like the Australian skipper will miss this year’s Champions Trophy bus. In Cummins absence, either Steven Smith or Travis Head could lead the Australian side in the tournament.
Australia will kick off their Champions Trophy campaign against England on 22nd February at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
