The final match of the Champions Trophy 2025 is producing moments that can become part of highlight reels. Big players have dropped some catches that they would take even in their sleep on other occasions, while high-profile players have fallen like a house of cards in this IND vs NZ Final. But one moment may have eclipsed all other in this high-octane game and it was produced by Glenn Phillips.

Watch: Glenn Phillips takes a one-handed stunner in IND vs NZ Final

The New Zealander has set the fielding standards so high that it’s unfathomable to think that a player can make so much impact with his fielding alone. Even in this tournament alone, he has plucked catches out of thin air, which in the end, made a telling impact on his team’s end result.

In the Champions Trophy final match, India made a terrific start to the chass as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill posted 105 runs for the opening wicket in just 18.3 overs.

As the match was seemingly heading in only direction, that is India’s way, the Kiwis’ needed a breakthrough to force their way into the match. That’s what happened.

Gill, who was playing as a second fiddle to Rohit up until then, decided to play a big lofty shot. Against any other fielder, Gill’s shot might have gone over the fielder’s head but it was Glenn Phillips who was marshalling the extra cover area and he somehow, quite unbelievably, managed to get the ball while flying in the air.
