Before the IND vs PAK Champions Trophy 2025 match, there’s was a hope that Pakistan could beat India, especially because of the conditions in UAE. It was the same ground where Pakistan scripted a famous 10-wicket win over Team India in the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup. Even some former and current cricketers pressed their opinions that their team can win this high-octane game. But the game ended with a disappointment, as Mohammed Rizwan’s team suffered a six-wicket defeat at the hands of arch-rival. The result was a double whammy as Pakistan are now on the brink of elimination.

Wasim Akram’s Outlandish Take On Pakistan Cricket After after defeat against India

After the match, the whole of Pakistan media went after their team. Former cricketers and legends also voiced their frustrations over the team performance, not particularly on the defeat, but the way the team unfolded in this big game, failing to give India a proper game.

“Ek aadmi najoomi ke paas jaata hai. Apna hath dikhata hai ke apne future ke baare me puchta hai. Najoomi hath dekhtar kehta hai ki tu gareeb hai, tu aur gareeb ho jayega, tu bahut gareeb ho jayega. Fir tujhe aadat ho jayegi. Hum sabko bhi aadat ho gayi hai,” Akram was quoted as saying on Pakistan’s Sports Central.

“Whenever you lose….” – Pakistan Captain Rizwan after India defeat

After the match Mohammed Rizwan also reflected on his team’s performance. He highlighted that the team should have scored around 280 runs to give India a proper fighting.

“We won the toss, but we didn’t get the benefit of toss. We thought 280 was a good score on this pitch. In middle overs, their bowlers bowled very well and got our wickets. Me and Saud Shakeel, we took time because we wanted to take it deep. After that, wrong, poor shot selection. They put us under pressure and that’s why we were squeezed to 240. Whenever you lose, it means you didn’t perform in all departments,” Rizwan said.
