Mumbai Indians (MI) completed a dominating victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 41 of IPL 2025 on Wednesday (April 23). The SRH vs MI match took place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
After being invited to bat first, SRH were off to a disastrous start, losing four wickets in the powerplay. Their key batters, Travis Head (0), Abhishek Sharma (8), Ishan Kishan (1) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (2) failed badly. Soon, Aniket Verma (12) was dismissed, resulting in them reeling at 35/5 in the ninth over.
Nevertheless, Heinrich Klaasen stayed positive with his approach and secured consistent boundaries, while Abhinav Manohar proved to be a strong support.
The duo built a crucial 99-run stand, before Klaasen (71) departed after playing an impressive knock. Meanwhile, Manohar (43) also did well to push SRH to a respectable total of 143. Trent Boult was the wrecker-in-chief with four wickets for MI.
In response, Ryan Rickelton (11) started well for the visitors, but Jaydeb Unadkat plucked a one-handed catch to cut short his innings.
Thereafter, Rohit Sharma and Will Jacks were able to put together a solid partnership, while maintaining the team’s tempo. Their 64-run stand was broken after Jacks (22) was dismissed in the 10th over.
Nevertheless, Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav continued their good form to pile on the misery on the SRH bowlers. They stitched a 53-run stand, before ‘Hitman’ was dismissed for 70 off 46. Suryakumar (40*) remained unbeaten to help MI seal the chase with 26 balls to spare.
