After Pakistan’s disastrous performance in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the general consensus is that there will be some drastic changes in the team’s set up. Some big name players might get the chop from the playing 11 while youngsters are likely to be given some chances for the next few months.
Pakistan are out of the CT 2025 after suffering defeats at the hands of New Zealand and India in their first two games. They will play their final game against Bangladesh on Thursday. It’s a dead-rubber as both Pakistan and Bangladesh are out of the tournament.

Fakhar Zaman might retire from One Day Internationals
As per multiple reports, Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman is considering to take retirement from One Day Internationals. The reports cited that the 34-year-old discussed the matter with his family members.
“Champions Trophy will be my last ICC tournament. I want to take a break from ODI cricket,” Zaman reportedly said.
Fakhar Zaman was part of Pakistan’s Playing XI in the opening match against New Zealand but suffered a horrible injury in the first over. The left-handed batter did come out to bat, but he was later ruled out of the tournament. He is expected to be on the sideline for at least three months. After the match, Fakhar went to his social media account and posted a cryptic message:
“Unfortunately, I’m now out of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 but surely Allah is the best planner. Grateful for the opportunity. I will be backing our boys in green from home. This is only just the beginning, the comeback will be stronger than the setback. Pakistan Zindabad,” he posted.
Representing Pakistan on the biggest stage is an honour and dream of every cricketer in this country. I have been privileged enough to represent Pakistan multiple times with pride.
