India’s premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s availability for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 remains uncertain. Indian cricket fans are hopeful that the pacer gets match-fit for the highly anticipated tournament.

Jasprit Bumrah Champions Trophy 2025 Fitness Update

As per the latest reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will make the call on his participation participation in the ICC event on 11 February 2025.

Currently, Bumrah is at the National Cricket Academy’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The reports state that he recently underwent scans on his back which are being analysed by the medical team. Once they discuss the same with the selectors and team management, the fitness status of the bowler will be clear.

Jasprit Bumrah Injury recovery process

Jasprit Bumrah suffered a stress reaction in his back during the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The bowler felt discomfort after 10 overs in the test and was forced to leave the field. He did not return to bowl in the second innings, raising concerns about his fitness. This medical condition requires at least five weeks of rest.

The ICC Champions Trophy squad finalising deadline is 12 February and BCCI wants to wait until the last possible moment before taking a call on Bumrah’s participation.

The team management will keep Bumrah in the squad even he there’s slightest possibility that he could be fit in time for the latter stages of the tournament.
