Former Pakistan Test cricket team coach Jason Gillespie has called the current Pakistan cricket team coach Aaqib Javed a ‘clown’ in a social media post. Yes, you heard it right! Gillespie even accused Javed of sabotaging him and former white-ball coach Gary Kirsten to take full control of the national team across formats, saying that Javed was responsible for his and Gary Kirsten’s ouster from Pakistan cricket coaching roles.
Jason Gillespie slams current Pakistan Cricket Team interim Head Coach
Current Pakistan cricket coach Aaqib Javed has been under the scanner ever since his team’s shameful exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Pakistan team failed to win a solitary game in the competition, which was hosted by them. After Pakistan’s ouster, Aaqib lamented Pakistan’s cricket management’s constant changes that hindered Pakistan’s performance across formats. Javed said,
“We have changed nearly 16 coaches and 26 selectors in the last two years or so. “You put that formula on any team in the world, I think they will also be in the same situation. Until you get consistency right from the top down to the bottom, from the chairman down, then your team will not progress.”

Replying to the statement given by Aaqib Javed, Gillespie took to social media and wrote,
“This is hilarious. Aaqib was clearly undermining Gary and I behind the scenes campaigning to be the coach in all formats. He is a clown.”
Javed was previously entitled to the interim head coach role of Pakistan till the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. However, with no official announcement of a new head coach, Javed is likely to continue till Pakistan’s next assignment, which is a white-ball tour to New Zealand. Pakistan team has announced two separate squads for 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs.
The management has taken some tough calls for the tour of New Zealand. Prime batter Muhammad Rizwan and Babar Azam have been dropped from the T20I side which will be led by all-rounder Salman Ali Agha. The duo have kept their place in ODIs with Muhammad Rizwan to continue in the leadership role. Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand will commence on March 16.
