Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) lock horns in Match 47 of IPL 2025 on Monday (April 28) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. RR skipper Sanju Samson will again miss the game due to an abdominal injury.

Sanju Samson has not played for RR since April 16

Sanju Samson sustained an abdominal strain during RR’s clash against Delhi Capitals on April 16 in Delhi.

Eaelier, ahead of the side’s away clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Samson stayed in Jaipur for his rehabilitation with RR medical staff. As per the official statement, the keeper-batter will be monitored on a game-to-game basis.

“Samson is currently undergoing recovery and will remain at the team’s home base (Jaipur) with select RR medical staff,” the franchise said in a statement. “As part of his ongoing rehab process, he will not be travelling to Bangalore for the upcoming match against RCB. The team management is monitoring his progress closely and will take a game-by-game approach regarding his return to action.”

As a result of Samson’s injury, Riyan Parag will continue to lead the Royals outfit in this game. Notably, RR are out of the race for the playoffs with only two victories in nine games and will look to play for pride in the coming games.

The only positive for the team has been Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has slammed 356 runs at a strike rate of 148.95.

Meanwhile, the Titans are second in the points table with six victories in eight games. With a potential win in this game, they can top the IPL 2025 standings as well.

Sai Sudharsan (417 runs) and Prasidh Krishna (16 wickets) have been the top performers for the side.

How has Sanju Samson performed so far in IPL 2025?

Sanju Samson played the first three games of IPL 2025 as an Impact Player, as he was still recovering from his thumb injury. In place of him, Riyan Parag captained the side.

However, Samson made a strong statement in only his first appearance, scoring 66 off 37 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, he could not be consistent enough in the subsequent games, with a top knock of 41.

In seven games, the top-order batter has garnered 224 runs in seven games at an average of 37.33 and a strike rate of 143.58. It will be interesting to see whether he will make a comeback in the remaining games of this season.
