Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane mentioned that they have made one change for the match against Chennai Super Kings. He did not mention the reason behind Venkatesh Iyer’s absence. However, commentators on air mentioned that the Indian player has got stitches on his hand and thus Manish Pandey replaces him in the playing 11.

Venkatesh Iyer has scored 142 runs in 11 matches so far in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. He has a top score of 60 in IPL 2025, which he scored against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Iyer also scored 45 runs against Lucknow Super Giants this season.
The 30-year-old player has registered four single-digit scores and one double-digit score in IPL 2025. Venkatesh Iyer has not batted in four occasions this season. He has faced 102 balls and averages 20.29 at a strike rate of 139.22.
Manish Pandey replaces Venkatesh Iyer in KKR playing 11
Manish Pandey will be playing his second match of IPL 2025 when he takes the field for Kolkata Knight Riders against Chennai Super Kings at Eden Gardens on Wednesday (May 7). He played his only game this season against Mumbai Indians on 31st March 2025.
Pandey came in as an impact player, replacing Angkrish Raghuvanshi in the 1st innings. He scored 19 runs off 14 balls at a strike rate of 135.71 as the Knight Riders were bowled out for 116. The 25-year-old batter laced his innings with two boundaries and a maximum.
