Rajasthan Royals (RR) will lock horns with Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 47 of IPL 2025 on Monday (April 28) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The side’s overseas batter, Sherfane Rutherford has been dropped from the playing XI and could not find a place on the impact substitutes list as well.
The reason behind the exclusion of Rutherford is unknown, as the Caribbean international has been in good form in the cash-rich league.
Karim Janat has replaced Sherfane Rutherford in RR vs GT game
Afghanistan all-rounder Karim Janat has replaced Sherfane Rutherford in Titans’ playing XI for their clash against RR. Notably, this will be Janat’s debut IPL game after being bought by Titans for INR 75 lakh.
So far, Janat has garnered 2,494 runs and 118 wickets in 161 T20s. His best figures of 5/11 came against West Indies in 2019. It will be interesting to see whether he can help the franchise bag another win and top the IPL 2025 points table.

Rutherford began his campaign with a 46-run knock against Punjab Kings, albeit in a losing cause. He then scored 35* and 30* against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad, respectively, which came in a winning cause.
Rutherford’s last game saw him score 43 off 34 against Delhi Capitals. His contributions helped the side to seal the 204-run target easily.
