Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) notched up a dominating victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2025 on Thursday (May 29). Mullanpur hosted the fixture, which saw RCB progressing to the final after nine years.
Josh Hazlewood – Suyash Sharma cramp PBKS
After being invited to bat first, PBKS lost Priyansh Arya (7) early. Although, Prabhsimran Singh (18) started well, he was dismissed soon as well.
Shreyas Iyer (2) and Josh Inglis (4) shockingly gave away their wickets to Josh Hazlewood with their rash shots, resulting in PBKS tumbling under pressure. Marcus Stoinis (26) was the top-scorer, as the Kings were all-out for 101. Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma scalped three wickets apiece.
Phil Salt’s assault leads RCB to final
In response, RCB lost Virat Kohli (12) in the fourth over. However, Phil Salt (56*) made short work of the chase, while stitching partnerships with Mayank Agarwal (19) and Rajat Patidar (15*).
