The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the venues for the IPL 2025 playoffs on Tuesday (May 20). The playoffs are schedued to be played from May 29 to June 3.

Ahmedabad to host IPL 2025 final

Meanwhile, the action will shift to Ahmedabad for the Qualifier 2 and the final on June 1 and 3, respectively. Notably, the world’s largest stadium hosted the IPL 2022 and IPL 2023 final.

Earlier, Hyderabad and Kolkata were set to host the IPL 2025 playoffs. However, after the tournament was suspended for a week, the tournament was limited to six venues.

Moreover, due to a yellow alert in Bengaluru, the game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 23 has been shifted to Lucknow.

Extra time for remaining IPL 2025 games extended by an hour

Another notable update that came from BCCI regarding the extra time stipulated for every game. From Tuesday (May 20) onwards, all matches will have an extra waiting period of 120 minutes, which was only 60 minutes earlier.

The development comes after the tournament has seen various rain delays, with the game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders getting abandoned due to incessant showers.

BCCI said in a communique to the franchises:

“Previously, the Match Playing Conditions stipulated that for league matches, a period of 60 minutes of extra time was available to commence the match in the event of a delay. In playoff matches, this time was extended to 120 minutes. In light of the current threat of rain and the revised schedule, the IPL Governing Council has decided that effective May 20, 2025, all IPL matches (including league matches) will have a period of 120 minutes of extra time to commence the match.”
