Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a thrilling victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 56 of IPL 2025 in Mumbai.

MI were off to a disappointing start with dismissals of both openers in quick succession. However, Will Jacks (53) and Suryakumar Yadav (35) made good use of dropped chances to play impressive knocks.

After the duo’s dismissals, only Corbin Bosch (27) could return with significant contributions. As a result, MI had to settle down for a respectable total of 155. Sai Kishore bagged two wickets, while others picked one scalp apiece.

In response, GT lost Sai Sudharsan (5) early. Although, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler (30) played fine knocks, they put the team under pressure with their low strike rates.

The match took a sharp turn, with Jasprit Bumrah breaching the defense of Gill (43) and Trent Boult getting rid of Sherfane Rutherford (28).

The game was stopped due to rain after the conclusion of 18 overs, with GT at 132/6. When the game resumed, Deepak Chahar was handed the responsibility to defend 15 runs off the final over.

Thereafter, Rahul Tewatia and Gerald Coetzee managed to take the Titans over the line in an emphatic fashion.

​After a loss, MI slipped to fourth position with 14 points. Meanwhile, GT are now the table-toppers with 16 points.
