Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) managed to remain alive in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) with a clinical victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday (April 25) in Chennai.
Batting first, CSK lost Shaik Rasheed (0) and Sam Curran (9) early. However, Ayush Mhatre (30) and Ravindra Jadeja (21) resurrected the team’s innings. Then, Dewald Brevis played a delightful knock of 42 off 25 balls, with the highlight being his three sixes in a single over against Kamindu Mendis. Interestingly, Mendis’ stunning catch brought his innings to an end as well.
After Brevis’ dismissal, only Deepak Hooda (22) could be a significant contributor, as CSK posted a 154-run total. Harshal Patel was the best performer for the visitors with figures of 4/28.
In response, SRH failed to get a good start from Abhishek Sharma yet again, as he was dismissed for a duck. Then, Travis Head (19) and Heinrich Klaasen (7) couldn’t be potent as well, resulting in the SRH middle-order reeling under pressure.
However, Ishan Kishan (44) and Kamindu Mendis (32*) proved their merit and ensured the team’s win in the penultimate over. Noor Ahmad picked two wickets for the home side.
