Punjab Kings (PBKS) completed a standout victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 49 of IPL 2025 on Wednesday (April 30) in Chennai.
Invited to bat first, CSK were off to a bad start, losing their openers Shaik Rasheed (11) and Ayush Mhatre (7) in a space of two balls. Although, Ravindra Jadeja (17) took a fine start, he was dismissed just before the powerplay ended.
Nevertheless, Sam Curran brought his former self to accelerate the team’s tempo, with Dewald Brevis (32) also playing a crucial knock. Thereafter, Curran produced his best-ever IPL knock by scoring 88 off 47 balls.
Curran’s dismissal triggered CSK’s collapse, as Yuzvendra Chahal went on to register his second IPL hat-trick. The Super Kings managed to post a 190-run total.
Shreyas Iyer’s knock stuns CSK
In response, Priyansh Arya (23) provided a fine start to PBKS, with a strong support from Prabhsimran Singh. The duo ensured the side garner 51 runs off the first six overs.
