India’s scheduled white-ball tour of Bangladesh in August 2025 has officially been called off, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) opting to defer the series by a year. The decision, confirmed by multiple sources including Cricbuzz, comes in the wake of escalating diplomatic tensions between the two nations following political upheaval in Bangladesh.
The tour was set to feature three ODIs and three T20Is between August 17 and 31, but the BCCI has decided not to proceed under the current circumstances.
“Given the diplomatic situation between the countries currently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided not to send the team to Bangladesh,” Cricbuzz reported.
While the official stance is a deferment, the move effectively shelves the series for now.
India’s Tour of Bangladesh 2025 Media Rights and Scheduling Fallout
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had already paused its media rights sale for the series, signaling early signs of cancellation. Broadcasters were informed that the Indian cricket team series would not go ahead, and the BCB shifted focus to selling rights for the Pakistan T20I series instead.

“They have informed us that there is no India series. After announcing the tender, they did not provide the ITT,” an Indian broadcaster told Cricbuzz.
The BCCI and BCB have now mutually agreed to reschedule the series for September 2026, citing “international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams”. Revised dates and fixtures will be announced in due course.
When Will Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma Return?
The cancellation of the Bangladesh tour also delays the return of ODI stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who were expected to feature in the series after stepping away from Test cricket earlier this year. Fans eager to see the duo back in action will now have to wait until October, when Team India travels to Australia for a three-match ODI series.
This series against Australia will mark Kohli and Sharma’s first international appearance since their Test retirement.
