IND vs ENG: Joe Root makes a return to the ODI setup after 2023 World Cup

No dramatic inclusion or exclusion can be seen in the playing eleven, but the talking point here is former skipper Joe Root. It has been a long wait for Root to feature in the ODI setup and finally, the prolific right-hander is back in English ODI side batting at no 3. Root last played an ODI for England during the 2023 ODI World Cup against Pakistan on November 11, 2023, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

On expected lines, Phil Salt and Ben Duckett will be opening the innings for England. Joe Root will return at his favorite position, i.e., no 3. Harry Brook and skipper Jos Buttler will bat at 4 and 5 respectively, followed by three all-rounders Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell, and Brydon Carse. Going by the subcontinent conditions, England have included as many as three spinners in Liam Livingstone, Jacon Bethell, and Adil Rashid, whereas, Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse, and Saqib Mahmood will be the three seam bowling options for captain Jos Buttler.

As far as Team India is concerned, the think tank is yet to decide on their playing 11 and will reveal the same during the toss slated for 1:00 PM tomorrow.
