On January 14, South African announced their squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and a day later fast bowler Anrich Nortje had to withdraw from the tournament due to a back injury. In fact, the fast bowler, was carrying the injury for quite some time, and there was hope that he could regain full fitness by the time tournament kicks off on February 19.

South Africa have finally named their replacement for the injured Anrich Nortje. The 30-year-old Corbin Bosch will be taking his place in South Africa squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. He made his debut in December 2024 and has played only one ODI and a test match so far.

In addition, the Proteas have also named Kwena Maphaka as a travelling reserve for the tournament. Bosh, along with Maphaka, will join the squad in Pakistan for the Tri-Nation series.

South Africa schedule for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

South Africa are currently in Pakistan for the Tri-Nation series against Pakistan and New Zealand. After this series, the Proteas will then turn their attention for the all-important Champions Trophy. The 2024 T20I World Cup finalists are placed in Group B alongside, Afghanistan, Australia and England. It’s a tough group indeed and every match will be a knockout game as only two teams can qualify to the semis from each group.

As for the schedule, Temba Bavuma’s team will open its campaign with the match against Afghanistan, who beat them in a three-match ODI series last year, on February 21, before playing their final two games against Australia on February 25 and England on March 1.
