Gujarat Titans are set to take on Punjab Kings in match no. 5 of the 2025 Indian Premier League season. Both teams had a season to forget last year after missing out on the playoffs. But this is a new season, and GT and PBKS both will be starting their campaign from scratch, which gives them an equal chance of qualifying for the top four.
Gujarat Titans had their fair share of misfortune last season. Though they finished 8th on he points table, there was only two points difference between them and fourth-placed Royal Challengers Bangalore. Had those games taken place and GT managed to win them, there was a good chance they could have sneaked into the playoff positions.
Punjab Kings finished the last season second from bottom, having won five times in 14 league matches. But they also suffered some misfortunes as regular captain Shikhar Dhawan was forced to sit out most of the games due to an injury. Having said that, the team was inconsistent and that is the reason for their disappointing IPL 2024 campaign. But like the other teams, Punjab Kings also added some quality players to their team in the IPL mega auction last year. They can be a surprise package.

The pitch at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium is generally considered a balanced surface. It has good bounce and carry for the new bowlers and spinners tend to get support as the match progresses.
