India are scheduled to lock horns against England from June 20 to August 5 in a series comprising five Tests. The squad might be unveiled before the IPL 2025 playoffs on May 20.
The players whose respective teams could not progress to the playoffs, will have sufficient time to rest and head to England. Meanwhile, the players participating in the playoffs will join the squad later.
The pool of players and logistics have been reportedly prepared by BCCI and the official announcement will be made in due course.

Jasprit Bumrah might lead Indian team against England
Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah could serve as the Indian team’s captain for the England Test series. This comes in the wake of Rohit Sharma announcing his Test retirement on May 7.
It is worth noting that Bumrah led India to their biggest Test win (by 295 runs) in Australia in November last year in absence of Sharma. He then emerged as the team’s highest wicket-taker in the series with 32 wickets.

The likes of KL Rahul and Shubman Gill are likely contenders for a vice-captaincy slot in the side. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal will serve as a key batter, as the Indian team searches for their first Test series victory in England after 2007.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel are probable wicket-keeping options. Along with Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna are expected to be the pacers for India.

The two biggest exclusions from India’s Test squad will be Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin.
With a terrific form in the ongoing IPL 2025, Sai Sudharsan is expected to get his maiden call-up and replace Sharma at the top-order. Meanwhile, Karun Nair can also make a comeback owing to his consistent performance in the domestic circuit.
Notably, Washington Sundar can be an another spinner in place of Ashwin. He will be a strong support to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.
